NASA Space Apps Orlando Challenge 2018

NASA Space Apps Orlando Challenge 2018. Bangladesh is participating in the opening ceremony of the NASA Kennedy Space Center in Orlando, USA. And the opening of the Falcon-Nine Space Shuttle. To participate in the ceremony organized on July 21-23, the Bangladesh team has left for the United States of Orlando, Florida. They left on Wednesday (June 19th) under the leadership of Information and Communication Technology.

Following the NASA Space Apps Challenge 2015 winners; six teams of six categories and team members travel to NASA Kennedy Space Center in Orlando, Florida. They participate in the inaugural ceremony of the Falcon-Nine Space Shuttle. So, the Challenge 2018 organizing team of the NASA Space Apps Challenge 2018 organizing committee and the NASA Space Apps Challenge 2018 organizer in Bangladesh are invited to visit Kennedy Space Center recently.

On July 21, the Apps Challenge winners and representatives will join to the Falcon-Nine Space Shuttle Festival. And the next two days (22-23 July) will participate in six world champions receptions at the Kennedy Space Center. They will also  look around at the Kennedy Space Center.

NASA Space Apps Orlando Challenge

Earlier, the Challenge achieved the title of becoming the world champion of Bangladesh in 2018, on February 16 this year. So Bangladesh won the World Champion title of NASA Space Apps Challenge 2018 for the first time losing 1395 teams. The Team of the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, ‘Team Olik’, was nominated as the champion from Sylhet. Winning the team from California, Kuala Lumpur and Japan in the top four of the Best Use of Data category.

In addition to the initial results announced on December 8 last year, competing with 2729 teams of 79 countries in the world, Bangladesh emerged from the top four of the 2 categories in the Challenge.

Team Olik’s “Lunar VR Project” is basically a virtual reality application through which users can experience the visit to the Moon. Team Olik collects 3D models and data from various resources provided by NASA. Apollo 11 missions landing area travel, sun observation from the moon and its rotating, the moon through a satellite visualized these three different environments will be present virtually.

Best Wishes for the Apps challenge winning

State Minister of Information and Communication Technology Junaid Ahmed Palak and Bangladesh High-Tech Park Authority’s Managing Director (Secretary) Hosne Ara Begum expressed widespread enthusiasm about taking part from Bangladesh.

The State Minister said that team of young people of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology has earned Team Olik World champion title. BASIS in Bangladesh is organizing this through BASIS Student’s Forum. In this series, the team of Bangladesh has become the world champion. Besides, the flag of Bangladesh will fly to NASA. This achievement is another unique example of the progress of digital Bangladesh.

Team Olik leader Abu Sabik Mahdi said, “Being the world champion in the NASA Space Apps Orlando Challenge for the first time and having the chance to travel to NASA, now everyone of Bangladesh has many expectations from us now. We want to see Bangladesh at the highest stage.”
